Brooklyn is our little CHD Warrior. She was born on October 29th, 2008 in Aurora Colorado. At birth we knew that she had a heart defect which would require surgery to repair. She was delivered at the University of Colorado but soon transported to the Children's Hospital. On Halloween, at only two days old, Brooklyn had her first open heart surgery. The surgeons repaired her coarctation of the aorta. She made it through the operation like a champ and a week later we were home and beginning life as a new family.
Since then we have had such an amazing time building our family. Brooklyn and Aliyah have such different personalities. They bring us new excitement and absolute joy every day. Brooklyn is very soft hearted and cares about everyone. She absolutely loves to draw and color. Aliyah is really starting to talk and express herself. She is likes to play with toys, animals in particular. She is much louder and aggressive than Brooklyn is. Aliyah is also very patient and has a knack for getting people to enable her. They are so sweet and we cannot imagine life without them.
Now six years after her first surgery, we are facing another operation. She has now been diagnosed with a sub-aortic stenosis and it will require open heart surgery this June. You can find out more about her diagnosis under the Sub-Aortic Stenosis link in the navigation. Our next echocardiogram will be in March and will hopefully provide us with some more insight about the operation.
Thanks to everyone for your support. We will continue to update this site with current information and personal blogs of our feelings. If you wish to comment below and give us support feel free.
